Salesforce Coming Together with Alibaba

Salesforce has expanded its presence in the Chinese software market by partnering with Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba.
“Alibaba will become the sole provider of salesforce to customers in mainland china, hong kong, macau and taiwan, and salesforce will be the exclusive suite of enterprise customer relationship management (CRM) products sold by alibaba.” blog post. Cloud computing has become a booming business, and Salesforce has increased its investment amid fierce competition in the industry.
Alibaba is China’s largest cloud provider. It is also the largest provider of cloud computing services in the Asia-Pacific region along with AWS and Microsoft based on market share of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and infrastructure utility services, according to Gartner.
Alibaba doesn’t have an e-commerce marketplace for small businesses, so this connection with Salesforce fills that gap. Seeking to gain a foothold in China, Salesforce turns to Alibaba to reach sales channels and ultimately support local businesses in the region.
This Salesforce and Alibaba partnership is an important announcement and opens the door for promising innovation. It all depends on whether the two partners can manage the relationship well.
